R600a, commonly called isobutane is an organic compound belonging to the family of saturated hydrocarbons. It is odorless, colorless and heavier than air. As an environmentally friendly (with zero ODP and very low index of the GPW) in the 90's it began to be widely used as a replacement for the "forbidden" R12 and "devoid of prospects" R134A, mainly in domestic refrigerators and small commercial refrigerators. However, because it is a combustible gas - it is intended for use in new installations and R600 is not suitable for use in existing fluorocarbon installations.
