The R449A (according to DuPont Opteon® XP40) is a new generation HFO hydrofluoroolefin with excellent cooling performance and high energy efficiency, with zero ODP and low WG index being one of the most prospective refrigerants in retrofit of existing installations. For R507 and R404a factors as well as for new installations in industrial and commercial refrigeration. As required by EU Regulation No. 517/2014 on fluorinated greenhouse gases from 1 January 2020, it will be prohibited to service HFCs with GPW values above 2500. With a lower GPU of approximately 65%, the R449A factor can be used in the refrigeration system service until 2030r.
